The video, uploaded by The School of Hard Knocks, features Zelnick affirming the date despite previous delays. EA Launches New In-Game Advertising Platform

Electronic Arts has announced the launch of EA Advertising, a new platform designed to integrate ads directly into gameplay. The initiative aims to reach EA's 120 million monthly players without disrupting their experience, using dynamic placements such as stadium signage and in-game content. EA has experimented with in-game ads for decades, but this marks a more structured and scalable approach. The move comes as EA faces pressure to generate new revenue streams following a $55 billion leveraged buyout led by a Saudi Arabian consortium. While some industry experts support the idea as a way to sustain gaming without raising prices, others, including Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick, argue that in-game ads in full-price games are unfair to consumers. Initial partners for the program include Visa, Red Bull, and Mountain Dew.

Take-Two CEO Added as Playable Wrestler in WWE 2K26

Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has been quietly added as a playable character in WWE 2K26. The inclusion, which was not mentioned in the game's patch notes, features a custom entrance animation and an exclusive theme song. Zelnick's in-game rating of 77 places him above several real-life wrestlers but below top superstars like Triple H. The move has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewing it as a humorous nod to his influence in the gaming industry and others questioning the decision to feature a corporate executive in a wrestling title. The article also raises the possibility of Zelnick appearing in Grand Theft Auto 6, though it is unclear if that would be welcomed by the public.

Biography

Strauss Zelnick arrived in games as an outsider with an elite pedigree: Harvard degrees in both law and business, then a media-executive career running 20th Century Fox's home entertainment arm, Crystal Dynamics, and BMG Entertainment. In 2007 his advisory firm, ZelnickMedia, took control of Take-Two Interactive, a publisher lurching from accounting scandals, an options-backdating investigation, and boardroom warfare. He installed himself as chairman and later CEO, bringing corporate discipline to a company whose crown jewel was also its biggest liability.

That jewel was Grand Theft Auto. Zelnick's core insight was patience: rather than annualize his blockbusters, he let Rockstar Games take years between releases, protecting the creative teams and the perception of each title as an event. The bet paid off spectacularly. Grand Theft Auto V, released in 2013, became one of the best-selling entertainment products of all time, and Grand Theft Auto Online turned a single purchase into a decade-long revenue engine. He fended off a hostile takeover attempt by EA, built out the 2K label around NBA 2K and BioShock, and in 2022 executed the roughly $12.7 billion acquisition of mobile giant Zynga, reshaping Take-Two into a company balanced across console and phone.

Zelnick is a distinctive public figure: a relentless physical-fitness devotee who wakes before dawn, wrote a book on wellness, and cultivates an image of disciplined optimism at odds with the gritty content his company publishes. He has learned to defend Grand Theft Auto's provocations to skittish investors and politicians while never apologizing for them.

His legacy is as the steward who proved great games and shareholder value are not enemies. He took a scandal-ridden publisher and made it a model of stability, championed the long development cycle in an industry addicted to sequels, and positioned the most anticipated game of the era, Grand Theft Auto VI, as the capstone of his tenure. Where other executives chased quarterly numbers, Zelnick built a reputation on protecting the golden goose and letting it lay on its own schedule.
