Biography
Thomas Lowry was an American lawyer, real-estate magnate, and businessman who played a key role in the development of streetcar systems in the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, including Minneapolis and St. Paul. He served as head of the Minneapolis Street Railway Co., which later became part of Twin City Rapid Transit (TCRT). Lowry's contributions were instrumental in shaping the region's early public transportation infrastructure. He is not known to be related to Sylvanus Lowry, a St. Cloud-based slaveholder and businessman involved in slavery-related enterprises.
