Biography
Tom Mahoney, born in Minnesota, was a choreographer who received his training in Minneapolis. In 1956, following his work as choreographer on several television variety shows, he was hired for *The Mickey Mouse Club* (1955). He modified the show's dance style to appeal to a young teen audience, shifting from the pre-teen focus of the first season, and introduced more boy/girl dancing as opposed to solo performances. After *The Mickey Mouse Club* ended its run, Mahoney continued working with Disney, including choreographing the musical *Babes in Toyland* (1961) featuring Annette Funicello. He also choreographed Funicello's dance numbers in the *Beach Party* film *Bikini Beach* (1964). Mahoney died in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1995.
