Biography

Tom McArdle is an American film editor known for his collaborations with director Tom McCarthy. He edited several of McCarthy's films, including *The Station Agent* (2003), *The Visitor* (2007), *Win Win* (2011), and *Stillwater* (2021). His work on *Spotlight* (2015) earned a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Film Editing at the 88th Academy Awards and won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Editing.

McArdle has also edited other notable films such as *Marshall* (2017), *In a World...* (2013), and *Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made* (2020). He became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in 2016. A graduate of Dartmouth College, McArdle grew up in Garden City, New York. In 1987, he was ranked 4th among U.S. high schoolers in the 3200 meter run with a time of 8:55.2. He still holds the Nassau County (Section 8) indoor record for the 3200 meter run with a time of 9:02.5 from the same year.
