Walter Thomas Huston was a Canadian actor and singer best known for winning the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in *The Treasure of the Sierra Madre*, directed by his son John Huston. He is recognized as the patriarch of the multi-generational Huston acting family, which includes his son John, granddaughter Anjelica Huston, grandson Danny Huston, and great-grandson Jack Huston. His career spanned stage and screen, and he is remembered for his contributions to early 20th-century cinema.
