Wanjiru M. Njendu

Wanjiru is a director, writer, and producer of Kenyan descent based in Los Angeles. Growing up in Kenya, she was influenced by American films and TV shows and spent her childhood recreating scenes from *E.T.*, *Superman*, *Indiana Jones*, and *Star Wars* with her siblings and neighbors, earning her the nickname “Magic.” Wanjiru’s film credits include several projects, with her most personal work, *Look Again*, being nominated for a 2012 African Movie Academy Award and winning Best Diaspora Film at the Kalasha Awards in Kenya. Her television credits include *Samantha Who?*, *Super Temps*, and *Mostly Evil*, among others. She directed the red carpet interviews for Women In Film’s 5th Annual Pre-Oscar party, a live taping of the SAG-AFTRA and Women In Film Q&A panel for the film *MISSRepresentation*, and the 2012 Women in Film/Variety purple carpet interviews celebrating the 2012 Female Prime-time Nominees. Her African and American upbringing influences her approach to directing film and television. Acclaimed director Jon Amiel has been her mentor for the past four years.
