Biography

Zayn Malik, born Zain Javadd Malik, is an English singer best known for his time as a member of the globally successful boy band One Direction. He initially gained fame after auditioning as a solo contestant on the 2010 season of the British music competition show *The X Factor*. Although he was initially eliminated, he was later grouped with four other contestants to form One Direction, which became one of the best-selling boy bands in music history. In March 2015, Malik left the band to pursue a solo career and subsequently signed with RCA Records.
