Carol and her friends prepare for a new year of going to school, visiting the beach, and enjoying life in their beloved Rio de Janeiro, though their friendship will soon be tested. Carol must navigate the challenges of her mother's new marriage, having her stepfather as her teacher, dealing with her difficult half-brother, and supporting her friends through their own personal struggles. Whether they remain close or drift apart remains to be seen.
