ANZACS
Anzacs is a 1985 five-part Australian miniseries set during World War I. It chronicles the experiences of a group of young Australian men who enlist in the 8th Battalion of the First Australian Imperial Force in 1914, initially fighting at Gallipoli in 1915, and later on the Western Front for the remainder of the war. The series follows the tradition of Australian New Wave war films such as Breaker Morant and Gallipoli, and precedes The Lighthorsemen. Common themes in these works include the Australian identity, focusing on elements such as mateship and larrikinism, the loss of innocence in war, and the evolving maturity of the Australian nation and its soldiers.
