At-Home Dad

Yamamura Kazuyuki is a proud "man of the house" in a traditional society where men are expected to be the primary breadwinners. A television commercial director, he earns a good income to support his wife and son. After recently purchasing a new home, he discovers that his new neighbor is a stay-at-home father. Struggling to respect a man who does not serve as the primary earner, Yamamura finds his own life turned upside down when he becomes unemployed and is forced to take on the responsibilities of running the household, while his wife returns to work. Though he insists it is not difficult, he soon realizes the challenges involved. He reluctantly accepts help and guidance from his neighbor, gradually developing a friendship through the process. As he navigates these trials, Yamamura learns to appreciate his new role and acknowledges the often-overlooked efforts of those who manage the home. The story humorously explores the changing dynamics of modern society and the evolving roles of men and women in family life.
