Centuries ago, humanity was nearly wiped out by the Titans, massive humanoid creatures that stand several stories tall. These beings appear to lack intelligence, consume humans seemingly for enjoyment rather than sustenance, and have no known purpose other than destruction. A small portion of humanity survived by constructing a city encased in towering walls, higher than even the largest Titans. In the present day, it has been over 100 years since a Titan has been seen. However, this peace is shattered when a Colossal Titan suddenly appears and breaches the city's outer wall. As smaller Titans pour into the city, Eren, a teenage boy, and his foster sister Mikasa witness the horrifying death of their mother at the hands of the creatures. In that moment, Eren makes a vow to kill every Titan and avenge humanity.
