During a battle with a young Ben Tennyson, Malware makes contact with the Omnitrix symbol on Four Arms, prompting him to seek Dr. Psychobos to create the Nemetrix, a prototype Omnitrix. In the present, a disagreement between Ben and Rook leads to their separation, allowing Khyber an opportunity to capture Ben.

Ben is captured aboard Khyber's ship, where Khyber explains that he is collecting various alien DNA samples to complete the Nemetrix, an evil counterpart to the Omnitrix. He also reveals that Dr. Psychobos tasked him with tracking down different species for this purpose.
