Six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White, the character known as Jimmy McGill is introduced as a small‑time lawyer seeking his destiny while hustling to make ends meet. He works alongside, and often against, “fixer” Mike Ehrmantraut. The series follows Jimmy’s transformation into Saul Goodman, the attorney who incorporates “criminal” into the term “criminal lawyer.”

medium confidencesource-verifiedAll 63 episodes across 6 seasons are listed. Events Index focuses on ★★ and ★★★ events per scale guidance. Three events carry ~ tags where only season-level confirmation was available. All ★★★ events were re-verified this session against >=2 independent Tier 1-3 sources. Three errors found and corrected: (1) Hector Salamanca debut episode wrong by one episode (S2E4 → S2E5), (2) S1E8 flashback description overstated Chuck's revealed agency, (3) Kim's S5E6 'decision' is more accurately an ultimatum. All other ★★★ and ★★ events confirmed correct.

Major events
Characters
Jimmy McGill / Saul Goodman / Gene Takavic · Bob Odenkirk · debut [S1E1✓]
A small-time lawyer with genuine talent and a con artist's instincts, Jimmy spends the series losing every relationship that anchored him to legitimacy — his brother Chuck, his wife Kim, and eventually his own name — until he is left only with the persona of Saul Goodman. The series ends with Jimmy choosing truth over self-interest for the first time in years.
Kim Wexler · Rhea Seehorn · debut [S1E1✓]
An ambitious attorney who begins as Jimmy's moral anchor, Kim is gradually drawn into his schemes through genuine love and her own appetite for the con. Howard's murder — a direct consequence of a plan she helped architect — breaks her, leading her to abandon both the law and Jimmy.
Mike Ehrmantraut · Jonathan Banks · debut [S1E3✓]
A retired Philadelphia police officer whose son was murdered by corrupt cops. Mike relocated to Albuquerque and drifted into criminal work, eventually becoming Gus Fring's most trusted enforcer. Each job he accepts is rationalized as necessary to protect his daughter-in-law and granddaughter Kaylee.
Chuck McGill · Michael McKean · debut [S1E1✓]
Jimmy's brilliant older brother, a founding partner at HHM who suffers from a debilitating electromagnetic hypersensitivity (whether psychological or physical). Chuck genuinely loves Jimmy but cannot accept him as a legitimate lawyer. His destruction of Jimmy is also self-destruction.
Nacho Varga · Michael Mando · debut [S1E2✓]
A mid-level Salamanca criminal who from the start wants out. Nacho is trapped between two ruthless forces — the Salamancas, who are his employers, and Gus Fring, who coerces him into being a mole. His arc ends in a self-chosen death that protects his father.
Gus Fring · Giancarlo Esposito · debut [S3E2✓]
A legitimate Los Pollos Hermanos franchise owner who is secretly a major drug distributor. His elaborate long-game against the Salamanca family — particularly Hector, who murdered Gus's partner Max — drives much of the cartel storyline. Patient, controlled, and methodical.
Lalo Salamanca · Tony Dalton · debut [S4E8✓]
A Salamanca cousin dispatched from Mexico who is charming, fearless, and deeply suspicious of Gus Fring. His relentless investigation of Gus eventually leads him to the secret meth lab — and to his death there.
Howard Hamlin · Patrick Fabian · debut [S1E1✓]
A senior partner at HHM who for most of the series appears to be an obstacle to Jimmy. He is actually a decent man who genuinely tries to do right by Chuck's legacy and his firm. He becomes the undeserving victim of Jimmy and Kim's longest con.
Hector Salamanca · Mark Margolis · debut [S2E4✓]
A violent Salamanca patriarch whose brutality is eventually turned against him — Nacho switches his medication, causing a stroke that leaves him paralyzed and unable to speak. He spends the rest of the series confined to a wheelchair, communicating only through a bell.
