Beyond Deceptions

A few years after Paulina Martinez marries Carlos Daniel, she becomes Paulina Bracho and begins attending school. She has two stepchildren who love her and a new child with Carlos Daniel. Life appears to be a happy resolution to the original story. However, when Paulina visits the doctor for a routine checkup, believing she has anemia, she is instead diagnosed with cancer and given six months to live. She must keep this secret from her husband, his children, and their newborn. She must find the strength to tell those who love her the truth. She also arranges for Carlos Daniel to be with a new woman, choosing their new maid and confiding in her. Strangely, Paulina does not seem to worsen from her illness, which causes the maid to become anxious and determined to win Carlos Daniel’s affection, even if it means ending Paulina’s life.
