Saya starts her day meditating on an elusive light, only to be interrupted by her father urging her to hurry for breakfast. At school, she chats with friends before leaving early, to their disappointment.

Saya enjoys her school life while secretly fulfilling her role as a Furukimono hunter, keeping it hidden from her classmates. Class president Itsuki Tomofusa persistently tries to win her affection, but Saya remains distant, showing more concern for the quiet Shinichirō Tokizane, who often observes her from a distance.

Saya discovers that the bakery owner has vanished and uncovers a Furukimono responsible for his disappearance. Although she is unable to save his life, she defeats the creature, which tells her about a "Conevant" before dying.

Saya discovers that the owner of a local bakery has gone missing and uncovers a Furukimono as the culprit. Though she is unable to save the owner, she defeats the creature, which tells her about a "Covenant" before dying.

Saya begins experiencing headaches linked to disturbing visions, which leave her exhausted. Her father assigns her a mission to kill a powerful Furukimono, but she becomes intrigued by the Covenant mentioned by the creature. After learning a story about the history of Furukimono and humans in class, Saya faints, and later is attacked by another Furukimono while visiting the shrine with Nene.

Saya fails to rescue Nene in time and later discovers that Nono has also gone missing. After learning the school is closing due to recent events, Saya is approached by a talking dog before being confronted by Nono about Nene's disappearance. A Furukimono emerges from Nono's shadows, attacking civilians, and although Saya defeats it, she is unable to save Nono, who is killed in the attack.

Saya struggles with guilt over failing to save Nene and Nono and begins to question her identity and the promise she made to protect others. She meets a mysterious dog that turns out to be Kimihiro Watanuki in disguise, offering to grant a wish. The next day, Saya finds the school nearly deserted and faces a samurai-like Furukimono that challenges her resolve, but she overcomes it and is later discovered by Shinichirō.

Shinichirō offers to listen as Saya shares her knowledge of Furukimonos, and later, she discovers Tadoyoshi collapsed at home, though he dismisses it as a minor issue. As Saya recalls a troubling memory involving a promise, a reward, and a punishment, a Furukimono attacks her school, killing several students and forcing Saya to reveal her katana and fight in front of her classmates.

Saya fights to stop the Furukimono from killing more students while dealing with disturbing flashbacks. Though she succeeds in killing it, all her classmates except Itsuki have died. After conversations with a questioning dog and a visit from Shinichirō, Saya begins to suspect that only her class was called to school that day and wonders why she cannot remember her mother's name.

Saya begins to question her identity after an attack by a Furukimono leaves Shinichirō dead. After recovering, she is visited by Fumito and later asked by Kanako to view scrolls in a shrine, where she discovers they are blank and is startled by the sudden appearance of Nene and Nono.

Kanako, Nene, Nono, and Shinichirō disclose that they are part of a "main cast" working to help Saya regain her memories, each seeking their own reward in return. As they force her to drink Furukimono blood, which she had unknowingly consumed in the past, they reveal her connection to Shrovetide, a time when demons are allowed to prey on humans. As Saya begins to remember, a Furukimono appears, and the group is challenged by Itsuki, Yūka, and Fumito, who accuse them of violating the project's rules.

Saya recovers a suppressed memory of being captured and manipulated by Fumito, who had altered her memories and used her in an experiment. As Fumito sends Furukimono to eliminate those who defied him, Saya intervenes to protect her friends, only to be betrayed and killed by Takayoshi, who is later revealed to be part Furukimono. In the aftermath, Saya gains a powerful ability to defeat Takayoshi, but Itsuki sacrifices himself to save her. As Fumito escapes and unleashes more Furukimono on the town, Saya is shot and left alone, beginning her recovery and planning her next course of action.
