Brides of Christ
A young Australian woman abandons her fiancé to join a convent in the turbulent 1960s, only to confront the Church's evolving doctrines and her own inner turmoil in a time of global and spiritual upheaval.
Diane, a young woman growing up in Australia in the mid-1960s, leaves her fiancé to join a convent after believing she has received a calling to religious life. At the time, the Catholic Church and its adherents are navigating significant upheaval. The Pope has recently died, the Vietnam War and mandatory conscription are ongoing, and debates within the Vatican over abortion and contraception are intensifying, reflecting broader changes within the Church. Presented in six parts, the narrative follows Diane as she confronts her personal struggles and ultimately must decide whether she is able to live by and teach the Church's doctrines.
