Broken Trail

The film follows an aging cowboy and his nephew as they drive 500 horses from Oregon to Wyoming for sale to the British Army. Their journey becomes complicated when they rescue five Chinese girls from a slave trader, preventing them from being forced into prostitution and indentured servitude. Feeling a moral obligation, the men take the girls with them on the remainder of their dangerous cross-country journey, pursued by a violent gang hired by the madam who had originally paid for the girls. The story intertwines two historical events: the British Army's purchase of horses from the American West in the late 19th century and the transportation of Chinese women from the West Coast to the interior to work as prostitutes.
