Bromwell High is an animated series depicting a British high school in South London. It premiered on Teletoon in Canada and Channel 4 in the United Kingdom. The series is a co-production between Hat Trick Productions in the UK and DHX Media in Canada. According to the website Toonhound, the show was originally intended to be titled *Streatham Hill*, but was renamed *Bromwell High* in January 2005. Streatham Hill is a real London suburb, while Bromwell is fictional. The show has been distributed internationally, airing in the United States on BBC America, in the Netherlands on The Box, dubbed into Spanish and Portuguese for Cartoon Network's Adult Swim in Latin America, in Australia on the ABC, in New Zealand on TVNZ's TV2, and dubbed into French for the Canadian Télétoon network. The series follows three trouble-making girls—Keisha, Latrina, and Natella—as they cause chaos in their underfunded school and with its staff. Designed by David Whittle, who also illustrated the *popjustice icons* series of books, the show presents a satirical view of contemporary British society. The majority of students at Bromwell High are depicted as children of Caribbean and Asian immigrants, while some male teachers are portrayed as aging 'chavs'. Many characters speak a poor form of English, including the headmaster, Iqbal. Most of the teachers are shown to have a strong preference for biscuits.
