Synopsis
Candy is stunned to learn that "Grandfather" William Albert Ardley has been secretly present in her life for years, particularly during her emotional struggle over Annie's adoption. Albert, who became guardian after his parents' death, chose to remain hidden, applying the strategy "Deceive your allies to fool your adversaries," in an effort to guide Candy from the shadows. As they reflect on the past, it becomes clear that Albert adopted her as a daughter to protect her, at a time when the family was divided over her future, and her resemblance to his late sister, Anthony's mother, deepened his resolve.
