Set in an alternate version of Japan, the narrative unfolds in an imagined "age of gods," approximately 20 years after the war, during which the country has experienced rapid growth and development. The story explores a world in which all the superhumans depicted in fictional stories exist simultaneously. These individuals, who have emerged through various circumstances and possess unique abilities, include Titans from outer space, lifeforms from mystical realms, phantoms and goblins from ancient times, cyborgs created by scientists, and relics that have risen from the ruins of ancient civilizations. Some of these superhumans openly reveal their identities and gain public recognition, while others conceal their existence and operate in secrecy. There are also those who oppose superhumans, working through shadowy organizations. In response, the Japanese government has implemented several measures to maintain peace and order. One such initiative is the establishment of the Overpopulation Research Laboratory, also known as the Superhuman Bureau, under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. This organization is tasked with identifying and engaging with superhumans to oversee and protect them. One of its members, Jirou Hitoyoshi, serves as the protagonist of the series.
