Jeff believes Steve is still emotionally entangled with Jane, caught in the post-breakup phase where physical intimacy remains possible, while he is trying to pursue a relationship with Susan. During a dinner between Jeff and Jane, Susan unexpectedly arrives at the restaurant.

Susan invites Steve for a casual dinner at her home and offers to cook, but Jeff cautions him about potential quirks, including "The Sock Gap." Patrick adds to the concerns by mentioning Susan's unusual collection of remote controls. As the evening unfolds, the conversation repeatedly circles around Patrick's large size, leading Jeff to be asked multiple times to accompany him to the bathroom.

Jeff discusses the comedic concept of "The Giggle Loop," where suppressing laughter in serious moments makes it harder to stop. Jane asks Steve to accompany her to her aunt's funeral as her pretend boyfriend, and Susan insists on going with Patrick as her fake boyfriend, leading all six to attend the funeral together.

Jeff meets a striking stranger at a bar who is unresponsive because she does not speak English. With the help of an interpreter, Jeff learns she is Israeli, but their attempts to communicate the next day are awkward and unsuccessful due to the language barrier.

Patrick keeps a collection of video tapes featuring his ex-girlfriends, including a clip of Britt Ekland from *The Wicker Man*. Jeff is amused, but Steve is disturbed when he discovers Susan is among the girls in the collection, a revelation that also shocks Susan when she learns of it. She later confronts Patrick at his home, furious at what she finds.
