Sacrifice is composed entirely of re-mastered and colorized archival footage from World War II, much of it previously unseen. The documentary tells the story of D-Day through the testimonies of those who experienced it firsthand. The events of these significant historical days are presented from the perspectives of French civilians and military personnel on both sides of the conflict. The film features testimonies from notable figures such as Dwight D. Eisenhower and Erwin Rommel, interwoven with accounts from ordinary soldiers and civilians, including film director Samuel Fuller and Eisenhower's chauffeur, Kay Summersby. Covering the preparations for D-Day through to the liberation of Paris, the personal stories of these individuals offer a compelling and historically valuable retelling of this crucial period.
