Kokonotsu Shikada dreams of becoming a manga artist but faces pressure from his father, Yo, to inherit their family's dagashi snack shop. His life takes an unexpected turn when Hotaru Shidare arrives and issues him a challenge.

Hotaru draws Kokonotsu's attention to a simple package of Kinako-bou, describing it as a "desert warrior" for its no-nonsense appeal. She also delivers an impromptu lesson on the history of Fue Ramune to Kokonotsu and Saya, highlighting its cultural significance.

Hotaru disrupts the shop's usual comfort by turning off the air conditioning and boiling water to prepare Buta-men, intensifying the summer heat. Meanwhile, Saya becomes curious when Hotaru inquires about her relationship with Kokonotsu.

Hotaru initiates a blind taste test of fugashi with Kokonotsu and assists him in rushing back to Café Endo after he realizes he left something significant behind.
