DARLING in the FRANXX

In a world where the land has fallen into ruin and children symbolize the last hope for humanity, one boy, Hiro, struggles to fulfill that role and ultimately chooses to abandon his responsibilities. His path changes when he encounters a girl with horns.

The parasites have difficulty accepting Hiro as the pilot of Strelizia, and Hiro himself also finds it hard to believe. The situation escalates when he is ordered to take part in a mock battle.

Following their unsuccessful attempt in the startup trial, the atmosphere between Ichigo and Hiro becomes tense, prompting Hiro to request once more to travel with Zero Two.

As the team continues to recover from the aftermath of their last mission, tensions rise when the leaders, growing impatient, make the decision to bring Strelizia back into active service.

As Plantations 13 and 26 prepare to collide, the squad braces for the intense conflict that will follow. At the same time, they must adjust to Hiro being paired with Zero Two, a situation that he must also come to terms with.

Ichigo, Goro, and the rest of Squad 13 find themselves facing a battle more perilous than any they have encountered, while also grappling with the psychological weight of the knowledge that this will be Hiro's third journey with Zero Two.

Squad 13 is given a much-needed break after defending the kissing plantations in a fierce battle. They head to an unexpected location and find something even more unexpected.

The boys find themselves in a compromising situation, leading to a rift within Squad 13. Questions remain about whether they will be able to mend this divide, and how Zero Two will respond to what is ultimately a human conflict.

Soon after Goro becomes keenly aware of his feelings, he is placed in a perilous situation. How will he and Ichigo respond in this do-or-die scenario?

The APE organization decides to reward Squad 13 in an effort to accelerate their development. The ceremony takes place in a location that Zorome has always dreamed of living in, and there he meets someone he has longed to meet.

Squad 13 has experienced notable growth, while Chlorophytum's score continues to decline. Considering this situation, Nana and Hachi suggest a partner shuffle, which is unexpectedly accepted by someone.

Squad 13 returns to the Garden for testing, as Zero Two's emotional condition continues to deteriorate. During their mission, they encounter Nine Alpha, who provides some information about her, though the most significant revelations come directly from Zero Two herself.

In the deepest, darkest parts of a forest lived a strong and beautiful beast princess. Drawn by the moonlight, she ventured into a land of humans, and in the moonlit garden of a small castle, she fell in love with a prince.

The revelation about Hiro's condition alters the dynamics of Squad 13, to Zero Two's frustration. She is determined to speak with Hiro, but others repeatedly intervene and block her path.

The battle to capture the Grand Crevasse begins in earnest, and Hiro is compelled to observe from the sidelines. Although Zero Two has departed, Squad 13 remains troubled by the manner in which she fights.

The parasites' living situation has changed significantly following the battle for Gran Crevasse. Zero Two's attitude toward them also appears to have changed significantly.

After capturing Gran Crevasse, emissaries are dispatched to demand the surrender of the klaxosaurs' leader. At the same time, the Nines arrive at Squad 13, where a startling discovery is uncovered.

Squad 13 is informed that they will soon be leaving Mistilteinn, and they decide to go out with a memorable final experience to mark the end of their time there.

Dr. Franxx confronts the APE brass over what they did to Kokoro and Mitsuru, and their response prompts him to reflect on his past, the decisions he and humanity made, and the path they have followed.

Humanity launches an operation to eliminate the klaxosaurs permanently, and APE dispatches Strelizia to seize control of Star Entity, the enemy's most powerful weapon. However, the klaxosaur princess has different plans.

As Earth faces inevitable destruction, Zero Two resolves to honor her promise, no matter the cost.

Hiro is left devastated by Zero Two's unresponsiveness, and the children grapple with the emotional and psychological aftermath. Forced to fend for themselves in a world that threatens their survival, they must decide what course of action to pursue.

The gang travels to space to engage in what they believe to be the final battle. At the same time, Kokoro and Mitsuru remain behind to face their own battle.

While Hiro and Zero Two travel to VIRM's home planet to confront them, the remaining members of Squad 13 work to restore life on Earth.
