Light Yagami is a high-achieving student with a bright future, though he finds life monotonous and unfulfilling. His perspective shifts dramatically when he discovers the Death Note, a notebook left behind by a rebellious Shinigami, a supernatural death god. According to the notebook's rules, any human whose name is written in it will die. Light has resolved to use the Death Note to eliminate criminals and cleanse the world of evil. However, the central question remains: will Light achieve his righteous objective, or will the Death Note transform him into the very type of person he seeks to eradicate?
