Set in the Taisho Period of Japan, the story follows Tanjiro, a compassionate charcoal seller, whose life is upended when his family is brutally murdered by a demon. His younger sister, Nezuko, the only survivor, has been transformed into a demon herself. Despite the tragedy, Tanjiro is determined to become a "demon slayer" in order to find a way to restore Nezuko to her human form and avenge his family by killing the demon responsible.
