Die Deutschen
*Die Deutschen* is a German television documentary produced for ZDF, which first aired from October to November 2008. Each episode explores a selected period of German history, beginning with the reign of Otto the Great and concluding with the collapse of the German Empire at the end of the First World War. A second season of *Die Deutschen* was broadcast in German television in November 2010, covering the era from Charlemagne, the Frankish King, to Gustav Stresemann, the Chancellor and Foreign Minister during the Weimar Republic. The series uses a combination of live action scenes and computer-generated animations to recreate historical events. Filmed at over 200 different locations in Germany, Malta, and Romania, the production cost approximately €500,000 per episode.
