Satoru Fujinuma is a manga artist who works part-time at a pizza restaurant and has carried guilt over a childhood kidnapping case. As he continues to deal with the emotional weight of his past, the truth behind the incident is on the verge of being revealed.

In 1988, Satoru is transported back to his elementary school days and discovers he has the opportunity to alter the course of future events.

Satoru makes a final attempt to protect Kayo from being kidnapped before her birthday by visiting her home, but he may have arrived too late.

Satoru takes Hinazuki to the Science Center to keep her company, believing they are on the same pre-Revival timeline. As events unfold, X-day arrives sooner than expected.

Kayo's extended absence from school prompts the realization that she has gone missing, leading Satoru to feel guilty for being unable to assist. At the same time, Aya Nakanishi, a student at a nearby elementary school, also disappears.

Satoru investigates a possible link between a fire at Airi's home and his mother's death, using a note she left to contact Sawada, a former TV Ishikari reporter.

After being arrested by the police, Satoru expresses a final wish to use his Revival ability one last time in an effort to correct his mistakes.

Kayo has been staying in a disused school bus for several days with the support of Satoru and his friends instead of returning home. Sachiko and Yashiro begin to suspect something is amiss as they notice changes in Satoru's usual behavior.

Kayo returns home after having been missing for three days. Her mother, Akemi, observes Satoru and Sachiko standing nearby, prompting concerns about Kayo's safety and the circumstances surrounding her return.

In this episode, the previous victims, including Hiromi, are no longer targeted, seemingly removed from the killer's path. Satoru becomes concerned about who the killer might now choose as their new targets.

After his kidnapper reveals his true identity, Satoru is abandoned to drown. As his situation appears dire, Satoru fights to stay alive, and the episode concludes without a definitive resolution to his fate.

Satoru finally regains his lost memories and confronts the person responsible for the events that have taken place.
