Evening Shade

*Evening Shade* is an American sitcom that aired on CBS from 1990 to 1994. The series stars Burt Reynolds as Wood Newton, a former professional football player for the Pittsburgh Steelers who returns to his rural hometown of Evening Shade, Arkansas, to coach a high school football team with a lengthy losing record. Reynolds requested that the Steelers be used as Wood's former team because he is a fan of the franchise. The show centers on the charm and simplicity of small-town life. Each episode concludes with a narration by Ossie Davis that summarizes the events, always ending with the line "... in a place called Evening Shade." In the final episode, guest stars Willie Nelson and Buzz Aldrin appear as escaped convicts fleeing the law, with the closing scene featuring a dramatic shootout reminiscent of the finale of *Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid*. The opening sequence features footage from around Arkansas, including McClard's Bar-be-que, located at the intersection of Albert Pike Blvd. and South Patterson St. in Hot Springs National Park.
