Everwood

The fourth season opens with a wedding of two unlikely partners and a romantic airport kiss between Bright and Hannah in the town of Everwood.

Andy becomes concerned when Ephram decides not to return home, while Bright offers Ephram a place to stay with Reid. At the same time, Hannah questions the future of her relationship with Bright after learning about his dating rule, and Harold grows suspicious of Andy's frequent absences from work.

Amy struggles with the challenges of college life and the realization that her crush, Reid, is gay, while also coming to terms with Ephram moving in with Reid and Bright, making him a more permanent part of her life. Nina chooses Jake over Andy, prompting the group to try to move forward, while Bright and Ephram take Hannah to a college party.

Ephram returns to town and begins teaching piano at ECC, where he meets Kyle Hunter, a 13-year-old with a rebellious attitude who dismisses classical music and aspires to attend Juilliard. Though initially amused by Kyle's confidence, Ephram becomes less so when Kyle mocks his own Juilliard experience. Despite Kyle's attitude, his musical talent becomes evident, impressing Ephram.

Bright organizes a camping trip with Ephram, his father Harold, and Andy, despite Ephram's initial hesitation, though his relationship with Andy has improved. Meanwhile, Amy struggles with embarrassment after misreading Reif's interest in her, but the two eventually share a kiss.

Andy and Jake attend a joint therapy session with a counselor to address unresolved issues between them. Nina steps out, leaving them to confront their differences alone.

Hannah is surprised when her mother visits Everwood to inform her that her father has died. Meanwhile, Ephram struggles with his emotions as Amy's relationship with Reid becomes more serious, and Andy faces a difficult ethical dilemma with a patient needing a kidney transplant. Bright tries to find the right way to support Hannah during her time of grief.

As Hannah prepares to leave for Minnesota with her mother, Bright and Amy struggle with the emotional impact of losing their girlfriend and best friend. Meanwhile, Jake embarks on a dangerous bike trip with his friend Cliff that nearly ends in disaster, prompting Andy and Harold to take up skydiving in response to Jake's recklessness. Reid honors his promise to Ephram by stepping back from his pursuit of Amy, which only deepens her sense of isolation.

Ephram, deeply in love, finds himself in an unexpected romantic situation with Amy after a moment of intimacy leaves them waking up together. Meanwhile, Nina becomes concerned about Jake's odd behavior, especially after his brother Brian makes an unexpected appearance. Delia's new association with the school's popular girls worries Andy, Bright attempts to help Hannah with her self-esteem, and Rose delivers surprising news to Harold that could significantly impact their lives.

Andy pressures Ephram about attending community college in front of Kyle, while Amy connects with a progressive teacher at Colorado A&M and joins a group of women invited to a meeting regarding the selection of a new Provost.

Bright takes Ephram to a college party to lift his spirits, but Ephram remains disengaged, opting to play video games instead of socializing. Meanwhile, Edna experiences a panic attack and is hospitalized, and Delia becomes increasingly defiant toward her father. Harold and Rose explore the possibility of adopting a child from Africa but find the process more complicated than anticipated.

Andy seeks advice from Josh Stein, a seminary student, who also assists Delia with her Bat Mitzvah. Meanwhile, Ephram supports Kyle during his father's visit, and Amy's professor discusses a medical procedure with Harold. Andy also struggles to keep up with plans for a date with an online acquaintance.

An eighteen-year-old girl requests Andy to test her for a genetic predisposition to breast cancer due to her family history. She and her older sister, who survived cancer and underwent a double mastectomy, visit Andy for the results. Meanwhile, Bright and Hannah experience an incident during their date and call Harold for help, and Kyle once again refuses to take lessons from Ephram.

Andy and Jake witness a car crash and notice the driver was intoxicated. Meanwhile, Harold interacts with someone from Rose's cancer support group, Jake connects with the injured driver at the hospital, Reid meets with his academic counselor, and Amy takes Hannah to dinner where they run into Amy's college friends.

Andy secures tickets to a piano concert, which he and Ephram attend together. Following the performance, Ephram discusses the possibility of a professional music career with the pianist. Meanwhile, Bright reconnects with a girl from his past, prompting him to reflect on his relationship with Hannah.

Ephram uncovers Bright's infidelity with Hannah and confronts him, leading to a confrontation with Amy, who forces Bright to confess to Hannah. Meanwhile, Reid faces potential expulsion from medical school for academic dishonesty, Irv brings Edna on his book tour where they meet his daughter Cassie, and Harold admits to Andy that he failed to disclose Rose's cancer on the adoption paperwork.

Ephram intervenes when Reid, struggling with depression after being expelled from medical school, attempts suicide. Meanwhile, Nina admits to Andy that she still has feelings for him, and Harold and Bright exchange a necklace as they each attempt to apologize to Rose and Hannah.

Reid, seeking to rebuild his life after being released from the hospital, invites Amy on a date, leading to a double date involving Hannah and Amy's friend Nick, which leaves Bright struggling with his feelings of jealousy. Delia becomes anxious when her Bat Mitzvah coincides with the birthday of the school's most popular girl, while Nina faces an emotional crossroads when Jake proposes moving to Los Angeles together. Meanwhile, Harold reminds Rose that their focus on adoption has caused them to neglect their relationship.

Andy's long-absent father unexpectedly visits Everwood, surprising the family. Meanwhile, Ephram and Amy take Bright out to celebrate his 21st birthday, but the night ends in disaster when he falls through a window and is hospitalized. Hannah leaves her date with Nick to be with Bright, and Nina announces her decision to move to Los Angeles, upsetting Andy. Edna and Irv also make plans to travel the country in retirement.

Ephram shares a surprising revelation about his father with Nina, complicating her feelings for Andy and Jake. Meanwhile, Andy grows closer to his father, portrayed by guest star Charles Durning, who remains in town. Amy gains a deeper appreciation for Ephram after reflecting on a shared past experience, and Hannah and Bright reconnect, reaffirming their strong friendship.

Nina informs Hannah that Andy has purchased an engagement ring, prompting the two to sneak into the Brown house to see it. Meanwhile, Jake confronts Andy about his feelings for Nina, and at Delia's Bat Mitzvah, Amy begins to question her lingering feelings for Ephram. Elsewhere, a baby left on the Abbotts' doorstep by one of Harold's patients leads to an emotional dilemma for Harold and Rose.

Nina and Sam temporarily move in with the Browns after their house is sold. Andy embarks on a mysterious trip to resolve a personal issue before proposing to Nina, while Bright is upset to learn Hannah may accept a scholarship to Notre Dame. Meanwhile, Edna's plans to leave Everwood upset Harold and Rose, and Delia is pleased with Andy's late Bat Mitzvah gift.
