Stand-up comedian Mae, who is single and in recovery, finds herself in a stagnant phase of life until she meets George, a man whose shift in sexuality leads to an intense and transformative romantic connection between them.

Mae struggles to manage alone while George is away for a wedding and seeks help from her sponsor, Maggie. George, meanwhile, keeps her relationship with a woman a secret from everyone.

George's hesitation to introduce her new partner, Mae, to her friends begins to strain their relationship, particularly affecting their intimacy. As tensions rise, George faces a difficult choice that forces her to confront her deepest fears.

Mae attempts to reconcile with her parents during their visit to England, seeking forgiveness for her past struggles with addiction. However, she finds that healing and reconciliation may take much longer than she anticipated.

George's new male teenage crush creates tension in the household and brings Mae's deep-seated insecurities to the surface, testing the strength of their relationship.
