Naota, a disengaged sixth-grader struggling with the challenges of puberty, finds his life upended when a girl on a motor scooter collides with him, hitting him in the head with a bass guitar, which triggers bizarre and surreal events involving giant fighting robots emerging from his skull.

Haruko, who previously attacked Naota, becomes a live-in housemaid for his father and claims to be an alien. Meanwhile, Mamimi names the robot retrieved from Naota's head Canti, the "God of Flame," raising questions about its possible connection to a series of unexplained fires in the city.

Ninamori, the president of Naota's class and a shrewd political operator, manipulates the vote to secure him the lead role in the class play. However, her plans become complicated when she unexpectedly encounters Haruko, throwing her carefully laid schemes into disarray.

A mysterious man arrives, asserting he knows Haruko and her connection to Naota's head being used as a gateway for large battle mechs. Meanwhile, a malfunctioning satellite threatens to crash into the city, forcing Naota to take action to prevent disaster.

A rivalry erupts between Naota and his father when both become infatuated with Haruko, leading to a dramatic showdown with pellet guns. As tensions rise, Haruko's determination to win over her chosen love interest becomes clear.

A giant hand statue appears near the Medical Mechanica building, posing a threat to the city. Mamimi's new pet becomes unexpectedly important to Haruko's objectives, and Naota demonstrates his growing strength and resolve.
