Flikken

Flikken was a Flemish-Belgian television series centered on a police department in Ghent. It aired from 1999 until its final episode on 19 April 2009. The series followed a team of six officers as they tackled a range of crimes, from minor offenses to organized crime. While the show aimed to depict police work realistically, it also included elements of personal drama. Over its ten seasons, many actors joined the cast, but only Mark Tijsmans and Ludo Hellinx appeared in every season. Produced by VRT, Flikken was broadcast on the Belgian public channel Eén and on TROS in the Netherlands. The show was highly popular in both countries, with ratings reaching up to 1.8 million viewers in its final season. Each year, VRT organized Flikkendag, a family event where the public could meet the cast. The event featured games, demonstrations by real police and safety organizations, and musical performances. A special farewell event was held in Ghent on 18 April 2009, where the cast and crew bid farewell to their fans in front of a large audience.
