Four Corners is Australia's longest-running investigative journalism and current affairs television program. It has been broadcast on ABC1 since its premiere on 19 August 1961, and marked its 60th anniversary in 2021. Founding producer Robert Raymond, followed by his successor Allan Ashbolt, played a key role in shaping the program's enduring tone. Inspired by the Panorama format, Four Corners focuses on a single issue each week, presenting either a locally produced report or an international documentary relevant to the topic. The series has received numerous awards for its investigative journalism and has been responsible for uncovering many high-profile stories. One of its early and significant reports was the 1962 exposé revealing the dire living conditions faced by many Aboriginal Australians in rural New South Wales.
