In 1982, Moscow, scientist Matvey Pyotrovsky builds a time machine and conducts an experiment that splits his apartment into two parts. One part remains in the 1980s with the professor, while the other is sent to the year 2020, where it merges with the apartment of a modern family: businessman Sergey, his wife Svetlana, and their daughter Kristina. This unusual coexistence causes significant difficulties, as the overlapping timelines mean each family loses access to the other part of the apartment. Complications arise further when Matvey's grandson, Pavel, who has waited 38 years, attempts to avert a tragic event.
