Based on the original *Weekly Shonen Jump* manga series by Haruichi Furudate, *Haikyu!!* is a slice-of-life sports anime centered on Shōyou Hinata's passion for volleyball. Inspired by a short-statured professional volleyball player, Hinata forms a volleyball team in his final year of middle school. The team faces "King of the Court" Tobio Kageyama's team in their first tournament and suffers a decisive loss. Determined to overcome this defeat, Hinata resolves to surpass Kageyama. When Hinata enters high school, he joins the volleyball team, only to discover that Tobio has also become a member.
