Hanzawa Naoki
Hanzawa Naoki is a loan manager at the Osaka Nishi branch of Tokyo Central Bank. He is tasked with approving a 500 million yen loan to Nishi Osaka Steel Company, despite his reservations, following orders from the branch manager, Asano. While the company appears financially stable, it is later revealed to have concealed significant debt through fraudulent accounting. The company is exposed and goes bankrupt three months later. Asano, an ambitious manager, attempts to place the blame for the failed loan on Hanzawa. Hanzawa is summoned to an inquiry at the bank's headquarters in Tokyo. He denies responsibility and vows to recover the 500 million yen, seeing it as his only chance to continue his career in banking.
