Happy Sugar Life

Shoko is surprised when Satou announces her decision to stop her playful lifestyle and move in with Shio, a mysterious woman she loves. To support their new life together, Satou takes on more work, but she faces an unexpected problem at her new job.

Satou is seen with a blood-stained trash bag, attempting to dispose of it in a river before sensing a nearby presence. The following day at school, the class president, Kitaumekawa, becomes concerned about Satou and tries to reach out to her, while Asahi distributes flyers around town seeking information about Shio.

Asahi is attacked by a group of thugs, and Satou and Mitsuboshi come to his defense. Satou begins to suspect a deeper connection between Asahi and Shio, which unsettles her. Concerned when Satou does not return home, Shio goes out alone at night to look for her.

Shio encounters Mitsuboshi in town at night, triggering painful memories of her abusive father and troubled childhood. She experiences a vision of her late mother, who condemns her, leading Shio to collapse in a park where she is surrounded by suspicious figures.

A coworker named Sumire expresses interest in Satou and reveals she has looked at his resume, leading her to suspect that no one resides at the address listed. At the same time, Shoko visits Mitsuboshi's home and stumbles upon a startling discovery in his room.

Shoko becomes suspicious of Satou's behavior and encounters Asahi distributing flyers. Satou claims she needs to deliver a notebook to Mitsuboshi, but when he opens it, he discovers a message asking if he wants her to arrange a meeting with Shio.

Satou and Shoko arrive at the apartment Satou claims is her residence. Upon exiting the elevator, they encounter two police officers who instruct Satou to knock on the door. The door then opens from the inside.

Satou and Shio live in Apartment 1208, once occupied by a reclusive male painter who had Satou as his model. The two would often talk about various topics during her daily visits. One day, however, something happens that changes the course of their relationship.

Satou convinces Mitsuboshi to assist her by promising him time with Shio, prompting Mitsuboshi to try moving Asahi out of town to protect him from Shio's influence. Asahi becomes suspicious of Mitsuboshi's intentions. Later that night, Asahi confesses his feelings for Shio to Shoko.

Satou returns to Apartment No. 1208 after a violent act and collapses into a deep sleep, unaware that Shio is still in the building. Shio, who knows nothing of the incident, reflects on her difficult childhood, marked by her mother Yuuna's absence and her father's abuse.

Asahi receives a photo from Shoko showing Satou and Shio just before Shoko's death and uses it to track down Mitsuboshi, who reveals Satou's apartment location. After making a promise to Shio, Satou goes to Apartment 305, where her aunt resides.

Satou and Shio spend their final night together in Apartment No. 1208, wearing matching rings as they prepare for a new chapter. While Satou hopes to leave the past behind for a brighter future, Asahi seeks out the two girls with an important revelation of his own.
