*Hausmeister Krause – Ordnung muss sein* is a German sitcom starring Tom Gerhardt in the title role, which aired on Sat.1 from 1999 to 2010. The show satirizes typical German "squareness" through the character of Dieter Krause, a half-day janitor who embodies the archetype of the German "square." He is characterized by his fastidiousness, blind adherence to rules, tendency to report others, nosiness, and prioritization of his own interests. He is also subservient to his superiors and often behaves in a brutish and unjust manner toward those he considers beneath him. Many of the plot elements—such as mishaps, misunderstandings, and frequent cases of mistaken identity—are rooted in the tradition of Boulevard theatre. The characters in the series are heavily inspired by those in Tom Gerhardt's film *Voll normaaal*, with many sharing the same names. In *Voll normaaal*, Gerhardt played both Dieter and Tommie Krause; in *Hausmeister Krause*, the role of Tommie was taken over by Axel Stein. Janine Kunze portrays the character of daughter Carmen. Other characters from *Voll normaaal*, such as Tommie's friend Mario, appear only in the background. The overall scope of the narrative also differs from the film.
