Gentaro Ito, 58, lives in Tokyo with his wife, Chizuru. Each of their three daughters was expected to have established independent, stable lives. However, their eldest daughter, Yuka, 28, is single and successful in her career but known for engaging in affairs. Their second daughter, Rika, 25, married an educated man and resides in Osaka, though the couple is on the verge of divorce. Their youngest daughter, Mika, 22, is also single and, upon gaining independence, begins a semi-cohabiting relationship with a man who shows little promise as a manga artist. Concerned about his daughters' poor judgment in choosing partners, Gentaro, a stubborn and traditional father, disregards their preferences and unexpectedly brings a man he favors to their home in the middle of the night, introducing him to the daughters. This man is in fact Yuka's ex-boyfriend. The family is left to deal with the consequences of his impulsive decision.
