High School Fleet

Living by the sea, protecting the sea, and journeying across the sea—these are the roles of the Blue Mermaids. Around 100 years ago, a shift in tectonic plates caused much of Japan to submerge. In response, coastal cities were built one after another, eventually evolving into marine cities. As sea-lanes expanded to connect these cities, the need arose for a large workforce to safeguard the oceans. At the same time, maritime jobs were becoming increasingly popular among women. Thus, the Blue Mermaids, responsible for ensuring the safety of the seas, became a dream career for many female students. It is in this context that childhood friends Akeno Misaki and Moeka China enroll in a marine high school in Yokosuka, joining other girls with the same goal of becoming a Blue Mermaid.
