Kotoko, a girl with a mysterious past and the ability to see spirits, reconnects with Kurou, a man she aided two years earlier, and uses the moment to confess her feelings.

Kotoko is asked for help by a giant snake, the guardian of Tsukuna Swamp, after a body is discovered there. A man named Tanio Aoi is suspected of the murder, but the snake feels something is amiss. Kotoko offers Kuro assistance, but he refuses for his own reasons.

Kotoko investigates why a suspect dumped a body in the Guardian's swamp, uncovering a tragic story involving Tanio Aoi, filled with love and regret that even shocks the Guardian. Two years later, violent incidents plague Makurazaka City, seemingly caused by the ghost of former idol Nanase Karin.

Kotoko arrives in Makurazaka City to address the incidents involving Steel Lady Nanase and encounters Saki, who has become a police officer. Saki begins investigating Nanase Karin and discovers that the former idol died under mysterious circumstances. To confront Steel Lady Nanase, they seek more information, but challenges arise.
