Jane Eyre

Jane Eyre, an orphan raised in an unkind household, is sent to Lowood School, where she remains until becoming a governess. She takes a position at Thornfield Hall, caring for Adele under the supervision of the reclusive Edward Rochester. As Jane grows fond of Thornfield and begins to feel at home, mysterious occurrences, such as strange noises and a fire in Rochester's room, begin to disrupt her sense of peace.

A visitor arrives at Thornfield, causing Edward Rochester to react with unease in ways Jane Eyre does not fully comprehend. When the visitor, Mason, is seriously injured one night, Jane's suspicions about the North Tower are rekindled.

Jane Eyre returns to Thornfield Hall following the death of Mrs. Reed. Mr. Rochester proposes to her, prompting her to consider whether she can accept his offer.

Jane Eyre, devastated and alone, abandons Thornfield and wanders the moors in despair, where she collapses and is found by St John Rivers. He and his sisters nurse her back to health, offering her shelter and care.
