Kōjiro Shindō is a skilled negotiator employed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. While aboard a plane at Haneda Airport preparing for takeoff, a massive mysterious cube suddenly appears from the sky. The cube rapidly expands and engulfs the passenger plane along with its 252 passengers. The cube is named "Kado." A strange being known as Yaha-kui zaShunina emerges from within Kado and attempts to establish contact with humanity. Shindō, having been absorbed by Kado, becomes the mediator between Yaha-kui zaShunina and human representatives. The Japanese government dispatches its own negotiator, Saraka Tsukai, to assist in the situation.
