Nanami, having been abandoned by her father and left without a home, meets a man who offers her shelter in his house, which is actually a shrine. The shrine is inhabited by supernatural beings who have been waiting for their master's return after two decades away.

Nanami, a student and minor land god, is inspired to return to school after discovering that the popular idol Kurama has enrolled at her high school. However, her responsibilities as a land god restrict her from leaving the shrine unaccompanied, which could place her in danger.

Himemiko, guardian of the Mikage Shrine and its lands, including the Isara Swamp, visits the newly appointed land god to pay her respects, while Nanami faces her first challenge in using her divine matchmaking abilities.

Nanami rescues a white snake at school and is later marked as its chosen mate. To protect her, Tomoe transfers to her class, but the snake still pursues Nanami.

Narukami, the god of thunder, has long sought Tomoe as a familiar and now sees an opportunity to seize control, with the aim of taking Nanami's godhood and claiming Tomoe for herself.

Nanami stays home due to a cold, so Tomoe goes to school in her place to keep Nanami's attendance record intact. While Tomoe is at school, Mizuki visits Nanami at home.

Nanami works to understand and develop her divine powers while also navigating her emotions toward Tomoe. At the same time, Kurama offers Tomoe advice, using his knowledge and experience as a yokai to help him better comprehend human feelings.

Nanami goes to the beach with her friends during summer vacation to deal with a recent breakup, but problems emerge when Tomoe joins the group and suddenly decides to go into the ocean, despite his own hesitations.

Nanami travels through time in an attempt to recover the stolen right eye of the Dragon King, in hopes of freeing Tomoe. During the journey, he uncovers significant moments from Tomoe's past.

The episode shifts between flashbacks that portray Tomoe's experiences with Mikage and the present, where Nanami attends a social mixer with her friends.

Mizuki travels to the city alone in search of the secret to thriving in human society, motivated by the pop star Kurama. At the same time, Nanami takes Tomoe on a date to an amusement park.

Nanami organizes an autumn festival at the shrine in an effort to dispel rumors that it is abandoned or haunted. Her efforts are complicated by Otohiko, who interferes with the preparations.

Nanami, unable to dispel the miasma threatening the shrine, abandons her post in self-doubt. Tomoe and Mizuki set out to find her, leaving Onikiri and Kotetsu to manage the shrine and the spreading corruption.

Nanami, the land god of the Mikage Shrine, is invited to an annual divine gathering in Izumo, but must first prove her worth by completing a trial set by Otohiko.

Nanami is preparing to travel to Izumo for the Divine Assembly and must decide whether to take Tomoe or Mizuki with her, while also dealing with the difficulties of attending a celestial event as a mortal.

Okuninushi, the deity who presides over the Divine Assembly, assigns Nanami the task of dealing with a disturbance occurring at the boundary between the world of the living and the world of the dead.

Izanami captures Kirihito and stops Nanami from joining him on the surface, compelling her to face the limitations of her abilities and the risks she is willing to take to save him.

After Tomoe reverts to his wild fox form to save Nanami, breaking their familiar contract, he uses the opportunity to contemplate whether he should return to her side.

Nanami meets Himemiko on her way home and spends time with her before encountering a small tengu who is on a mission.

Kurama returns to Mount Kurama with Nanami and Tomoe to take Botanmaru back to his home and determine if he can assist his ill father.

Kurama's father becomes ill, but visiting him is complicated by the tight security surrounding him. Kurama and his friends must find a way to circumvent Jiro's defenses in order to reach him.

Nanami transfers her divine powers to Kurama, enabling him to impersonate a god and gain access through Jiro's gate, while she uses the distraction to slip in and deliver the cure.

The search for the Sojobo's soul takes an unexpected turn, uncovering a surprising location and a heartfelt confession.

Kirihito remains trapped in the Netherworld, continuing his efforts to reclaim his body, while Nanami and her companions travel to visit the Year God in hopes of obtaining a New Year's talisman.

Tomoe discovers more about Nanami's early life, gaining a deeper understanding of her past. Together, they arrive at the torii gates and proceed to witness the Year God.
