Kissyfur is a 1980s animated children's television series that aired on NBC. It was produced by Jean Chalopin and Andy Heyward and created by Phil Mendez for DIC. The series originated from a half-hour NBC prime-time special titled *Kissyfur: Bear Roots* and was followed by three additional specials before its Saturday morning debut. The show ran for two seasons. The series centers on Gus and Kissyfur, a father and son bear duo who are circus performers. During a circus trip, their train derails, prompting the bears to escape and begin a new life in the swamps of Paddlecab County. There, they defend the local swamp's inhabitants from the clumsy alligators Floyd and Jolene. Using skills they learned in the human world, Kissyfur and his father establish a boat tour business, transporting other animals and their goods down the river.
