Synopsis
Jacob and the Man in Black are revealed to be twin brothers who were raised by a mysterious woman responsible for protecting the island. After their adoptive mother—also the woman who had killed their biological mother—is murdered, Jacob, now the island's guardian, exiles his brother into the source of the island's electromagnetism as an act of vengeance. This act transforms the Man in Black into the smoke monster.
