Prince Süleyman returns to Istanbul after the death of his father and begins his reign, while a defiant slave girl named Alex is brought to Topkapı Palace, setting her on a path that becomes entwined with his. As Süleyman takes decisive steps to establish his authority, Alex navigates palace life and captures his interest, even as his wife Mahidevran arrives seeking to reconnect with him.

Süleyman mistakenly encounters Mahidevran instead of Alex, who is accused by İbrahim of a failed approach and faces harsh criticism. While Süleyman sends strong diplomatic messages to Hungary and prepares for a military campaign in Rhodes, Hatice becomes captivated by a mysterious violinist. At the same time, Alex, now renamed Hürrem, incites jealousy in Mahidevran, who, with the support of the Valide Sultan, punishes her and offers an escape under certain conditions. Meanwhile, Süleyman unknowingly calls for Hürrem, setting the stage for future conflict.

An envoy sent to the Hungarian king is killed after being mistreated, prompting Süleyman to begin planning a military campaign against Rhodes. Mahidevran becomes upset upon seeing her ring on Hürrem's finger and is revealed to be pregnant, heightening tensions in the palace as Hürrem tries to gain an audience with the Sultan. A surprising gift from King Louis leads Süleyman to shift his focus to Belgrade, and when Hürrem's ring goes missing, İbrahim uncovers the truth but lets the Valide Sultan handle the resulting tensions.

Mahidevran accuses Hürrem of causing her miscarriage and physically attacks her, leading to Hürrem's serious illness, which the palace staff tries to conceal. As Süleyman returns to Istanbul following a successful military campaign near Belgrade, Hürrem is the first to greet him, unaware of the danger Mahidevran has orchestrated. After spending the night with the Sultan, Hürrem is poisoned, setting off a chain of events in which Süleyman takes action and İbrahim investigates, ultimately discovering Gülşah's role and confronting a difficult decision.

Hürrem experiences emotional distress in her new living quarters, particularly troubled by Maria's conversion to Islam. Meanwhile, Sultan Süleyman prepares for a military campaign to Rhodes following the victory at Belgrade. As her relationship with Hatice strengthens, Hürrem becomes increasingly cautious about İbrahim's growing interest in her, leading to heightened tensions. İbrahim is surprised by Süleyman's unexpected proposal, while Hürrem and Mahidevran come into conflict until an unexpected individual intervenes. Political tensions escalate as Piri Pasha resigns and Ahmet Pasha responds to Süleyman's unforeseen choice for his successor. İbrahim's disclosure regarding Mehmet Çelebi's illness leads Valide Sultan to appeal to Süleyman on Hatice's behalf, but she is met with a disturbing response.

During the Janissary Rebellion in Istanbul, Hatice is seriously wounded, and Leo is shot while attempting to rescue her, leading Hürrem, the princes, and others to seek shelter in a secure palace corridor with the assistance of Matrakçı. Mahidevran and the Valide Sultan await news in the Topkapı cellars as Süleyman hurries back to the city, ending the revolt upon his arrival. Meanwhile, İbrahim is summoned from Cairo, Hatice begins to recover, and Hürrem and Gülfem must deliver a heartbreaking revelation just as Süleyman and the Valide learn that Hürrem and the princes have not yet returned to Topkapı.
