Arataka Reigen is a self-proclaimed psychic who operates a consulting business for individuals seeking spiritual guidance, though he is not genuinely endowed with supernatural abilities. To sustain his image, he relies on the assistance of Shigeo Kageyama, a middle-school student known as Mob, who is both reluctant and unenthusiastic about his role. Mob's typically calm demeanor and latent strength begin to shift over the course of the episode, which represents 27% of his overall transformation.

The Telepathy Club is at risk of being shut down by the student council due to its low membership, leading Inukawa to propose recruiting Mob to bolster their numbers. At the same time, Mob receives a phone call from Reigen regarding an incident that has occurred at Highso Girls' Academy.

Mob joins the Body Improvement Club with the goal of getting stronger to be closer to Tsubomi, but he faints while training. Troubled by his limitations, he is approached by a mysterious woman wearing an unusual mask. His progress toward unlocking his full power reaches 20%.

Mob confronts Teruki Hanazawa, the shadow leader of Black Vinegar Middle School, in a direct one-on-one battle. Even without using his powers, Mob is quickly overpowered by Teru's immense and uncontrollably destructive strength. As Teru presses his attack, Mob is hit by a painful memory involving Ritsu.

After Mob resolves his conflict with Teru, peace is restored to the town. Reigen continues his usual behavior as a fake psychic, and Tome Kurata, head of the Telepathy Club, continues to involve Mob in efforts to find other esper students. At the same time, a mysterious outsider makes contact with Mob's younger brother, Ritsu.

At Salt Middle School, a student-led deep cleaning campaign initiated by the student council president unintentionally targets several local troublemakers. At the same time, rumors about a Mob victory over a shadow leader at Black Vinegar Middle School become exaggerated, leading to the shadow leader being nicknamed "White T Poison." As rival gang leaders converge at Salt Middle to confront him, Ritsu discovers his latent psychic abilities and, with Dimple's encouragement, begins training with him to surpass his older brother.

After defeating rival gang leaders, Ritsu begins to feel invincible until he encounters his older brother, Mob. Tension escalates when Ritsu reacts coldly to Mob's congratulations, and a mysterious man appears, attempting to abduct Ritsu. In response, Mob uses his psychic abilities to protect his brother.

Ritsu and his friends are captured by Koyama and taken to the 7th Division of the secret organization Claw, which aims to take over the world in order to create what it considers a better future. Mob and Teru confront Claw's assassin, Terada, who is defeated and compelled to disclose information about the group. In an effort to rescue Ritsu, Mob journeys to the 7th Division, where he encounters and battles another Claw operative.

Mob and Teru venture into the Claw's 7th Division to rescue Ritsu, while Ritsu and the other captured espers attempt an escape of their own. Their efforts lead to a confrontation with high-ranking members of the division. As Teru and Dimple face a difficult battle, the true leader of the Claw makes his first appearance.

Mob, Ritsu, and Teru are trapped in a room that nullifies their powers when Reigen, Mob's master and a self-proclaimed psychic, suddenly appears. Mistaken for the leader of Claw, Reigen is able to rescue the group, but their escape from the 7th Division becomes complicated when Ishiguro dispatches high-ranking officers to intercept them.

When confronted by four influential members of the upper echelon—Sakurai, Muraki, Matsuo, and Ishiguro—Mob reaches his breaking point and makes an unexpected and surprising choice in response.

Reigen is approached by a client seeking to uncover the source of a mysterious black shadow that is harming his crops. Meanwhile, at Salt Middle School, Kamuro announces his resignation as student council president, leading Mezato to encourage Mob to consider running in the upcoming election.

Reigen brings his business to Cuticle City in an effort to attract new clients. There, they come across reports of urban legends, including the Dragger. With the help of the local psychic Shinra Banshomaru, they look into and resolve the supernatural events plaguing the city.

Reigen opens an official website for his Spirits and Such Consultation Office, which quickly draws a diverse range of clients, including a man looking to place a curse and a woman who claims to be haunted. Mob begins to wonder why humans and spirits are treated so differently. Reigen also gets a request from a group of college students who want to take photos at a supposedly haunted location, but the situation becomes complicated.

Reigen and Mob are hired by the wealthy Asagiri Masashi to exorcise what he believes to be an evil spirit possessing his daughter, Minori. Upon arriving at his mansion, they find several other self-proclaimed psychics already present, including Jodo Kirin, president of the Rising Sun Spiritual Union.

Mob finds himself trapped in a parallel world created by Mogami Keiji and starts to face bullying after Minori transfers to his class. As his emotional difficulties grow, more information about Mogami's past tragedy comes to light. At the same time, Reigen and others wait for Mob's recovery at the Asagiri mansion, while Dimple attempts to rescue him by entering Minori's body.

After spending more time with the Body Improvement Club and the Telepathy Club, Mob begins to experience a new sense of happiness. However, a sudden call from Reigen disrupts his enjoyment, leading to tension between them over a minor issue. As Reigen is forced to take on jobs without Mob, he is compelled to reflect on their relationship.

Reigen, now working independently after parting ways with Mob, receives an unexpected offer to appear on a television show. However, the invitation turns out to be a setup orchestrated by Jodo Kirin, leader of the Rising Sun Spiritual Union, who exposes Reigen's deception during the live broadcast. With the annual marathon at Salt Middle School drawing near, Mob resolves to confess his feelings to Tsubomi if he places in the top 10, leading him to train with great determination. In the climactic battle atop the Cultural Tower in Seasoning City, Mob faces off against Suzuki. After a moment of hesitation, he draws strength from the presence of his younger brother, Ritsu, and commits to the fight with renewed determination. As the confrontation escalates, the result remains in question.

A large broccoli-shaped structure known as the Divine Tree stands over Seasoning City, representing prosperity and guidance. At Salt Middle School, students are filling out career surveys, sharing their hopes and concerns about their futures. As his classmates talk about their aspirations, Mob has difficulty imagining his own path.

Mob dedicates time to organizing for an upcoming cultural fair, while Serizawa contemplates a new beginning by enrolling in night school.

Mob finds himself in a cheerful mood after reuniting with Tsubomi, though his happiness is somewhat overshadowed by the attention he receives from other girls as he walks through town.

After the appearance of Psycho Helmet, enigmatic tree roots start spreading across the city. Mob, Reigen, and Ritsu take steps to eliminate the source—the Divine Tree—but they encounter growing opposition from adherents of the Psycho Helmet Religion.

Mob enters the Divine Tree and encounters Teru, who has been fully controlled by the Psycho Helmet, leaving Mob stunned and uncertain how to proceed.
