Mr. Terrific

Mister Terrific is an American television sitcom that aired on CBS from January 9 to May 8, 1967. It starred Stephen Strimpell in the title role and consisted of 17 episodes. The show aired on Monday nights, following NBC's Captain Nice. Set during the 1960s camp superhero craze, the series followed Stanley Beamish, a scrawny gas station attendant who secretly fought crime for the government's Bureau of Secret Projects in Washington. By taking a "power pill," Stanley gained the strength of a thousand men and the ability to fly, though the latter required vigorous flapping while wearing the top half of a wingsuit. The pills only worked on him and had a one-hour time limit, with two 10-minute booster pills available per episode. Despite his powers, Stanley remained vulnerable to bullets. The humor often stemmed from him losing his abilities before completing his mission.
